Product Highlights

To help you protect your trip investment, we suggest purchasing the AAA Southern New England Travel Protection Plan. Our Travel Protection plan offers more than just Trip Cancellation coverage; it includes many other important benefits, such as medical protection and coverage should your baggage be lost, stolen, damaged or delayed. Please read the following product summary to become familiar with the benefits included in the Travel Protection Plan.

Trip Cancellation: Reimburses up to your total trip cost for cancellation penalties or unused arrangements (including airfare costs even if your airfare is purchased independently of AAA) if you need to cancel your trip because of a covered reason such as: unexpected illness, injury or death to you, your traveling companion or an immediate family member of either your or your traveling companion; travel supplier bankruptcy; if you or your traveling companion are involved in a documented traffic accident en route to the departure; if your or your traveling companion’s home is made uninhabitable by a natural disaster; or if you or your traveling companion are called for jury duty, subpoenaed, highjacked or quarantined.

Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion Waiver: Like most travel insurance policies, this insurance contains a pre-existing condition exclusion. However, the pre-existing condition exclusion will be WAIVED if you purchase the insurance within 7 days of your trip deposit or onetime payment to AAA.

Trip Interruption: Reimburses up to your total trip cost for unused, non-refundable land or sea expenses as well as the airfare paid, less the value of applied credit from an unused return travel ticket, to return to your city of residence if you need to interrupt for covered reasons such as illness, injury, or death to you, your traveling companion, or a member of your or your traveling companion's immediate family member.

Travel Delay: The insurance will reimburse you (up to the plan limit) for any missed arrangements, “catch-up” transportation expenses, phone calls, additional accommodations and meals if your trip is delayed for 12 or more hours due to carrier-caused delays or other covered reasons including: loss or theft of your passport(s), travel documents or money; quarantine; hijacking; natural disaster; a documented traffic accident while you are en route to departure; an unannounced strike; or civil disorder.

Missed Connection for Cruises: If you miss your cruise departure as a result of the cancellation or delay of 3 or more hours of all regularly scheduled airline flights due to inclement weather, the insurer will reimburse you for any missed arrangements, reasonable “catch-up” transportation expenses, phone calls, additional accommodations and meals.

Medical Expense/Emergency Assistance Benefits: If you become ill or injured while on your trip, the insurer will reimburse you (up to the plan limit) for covered expenses including but not limited to physician visits, prescription drugs and medicines, x-rays, and hospital stays. The Protection Plan even includes coverage for Medical Emergency Evacuations if one is needed.

Baggage and Personal Effects Benefits: The insurer will reimburse you (up to the plan limit) for loss, theft, damage, or destruction of your Baggage during your Covered Trip. If your bags are Delayed, you even have coverage to purchase the necessary immediate items (up to the plan limit) that you may need until your bags arrive.
